Afton Villa is the site of nineteenth-century gardens and a famed antebellum mansion built in 1849 by David Barrow, once the wealthiest planter in West Feliciana. The mansion was destroyed by fire in 1963. The family cemetery contains the tomb of Alexander Barrow, a U.S. Senator from Louisiana in the 1840s.
