Original members of the Society of the Cincinnati in the State of New Jersey are buried in this churchyard: Captain Seth Bowen, Ensign Almarin Brooks, Surgeon Ebenezer Elmer, Lieutenant Eli Elmer, Lieutenant James Giles, and Captain Samuel Moore Shute. They pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor that men might be free during the Revolutionary War, 1776 - 1783.
