Short Mountain is a seven-mile ridge in Virginia along the northwestern edge of Massanutten Mountain, extending between Mount Jackson on the south and Edinburg on the north. Also once called Seven-mile Mountain, it forms part of the larger ridge landscape that shapes this section of the Shenandoah Valley. The Massanutten Trail crosses the mountain, linking it physically and visually to the better-known Massanutten range. Its significance lies in this distinct geographic position and in the older alternate name, which preserved a simple description of the ridge’s length.
