Arriving here from Murfreesboro with the 2nd, 8th, 9th, and 11th Kentucky Cavalry, Stoner's Cavalry Battalion, and Cobb's Battery, Colonel John Hunt Morgan added Hanson's Infantry Brigade to his strength. After clearing Lebanon at 2:00 P.M., his force ferried and swam the Cumberland River at 10:00 P.M., attacked Hartsville at 3:00 A.M., and defeated Dumont's Federal Brigade.
