In November 1838, a fair was held in woods belonging to Garrett C. Bergen, with entrance to the grounds from North Main Street. No admission was charged, and no money was paid out in premiums. On June 23, 1884, this area became known as The Charity Denton Martin Addition to the City of Franklin, Indiana.
