Natural Falls State Park in northeastern Oklahoma centers on a seventy-seven-foot waterfall, among the state’s tallest known, dropping into a narrow V-shaped valley in the Ozark Highlands. Long known as Dripping Springs before state acquisition in 1990, the site had been a private roadside attraction and later took its current name to avoid confusion with other places. The falls create a cool, moist microclimate that supports abundant ferns, mosses, and liverworts, making protection of the vegetation a priority. The park combines this distinctive natural setting with accessible viewing areas, trails, campgrounds, yurts, group facilities, and a memorial to Cherokee poet and artist Ronnie Pathkiller.
