The citizens and community of Clay County remember those who served in the armed forces of the United States in times of war and peace, honoring their courage and personal sacrifices in defense and preservation of liberty. Included are Abraham Lincoln’s words of prayer for those who mourn the loved and lost and of solemn pride in so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. The remembered dead are named from the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and the Global War on Terrorism.
