The Roger Williams Park Museum of Natural History and Planetarium in Providence, Rhode Island, is a long-standing science and education center within the city’s park system. Named for Providence founder Roger Williams, it stands on land donated by the Williams family. Founded in 1896, the museum was designed by Martin & Hall, with construction beginning the following year, and a north wing was added in 1914 and 1915. In 1953, director Maribelle Cormack established the planetarium, now known as the Cormack Planetarium. Its exhibitions link natural history to global and local environments, including the South Pacific, Earth’s history, and urban wildlife.
