Benjamin A. Pearson, born in 1848 and died in 1934, came to Idaho in 1869 with his wife, Eliza Mary Curtis. He homesteaded in the valley in 1884, ranched for 45 years, and in 1896 ran freight and stage service from Blackfoot to Challis. In 1918 he became the first State Senator from Butte County. He also served on the Moore School Board for 17 years and as Justice of Peace for 7 years. Their children were Eliza Ella, Benjamin Jessie, Mary Etta, Joseph Harry, Sarah Olive, Roy Curtis, Selina Maud, Albert Russell, Ida May, and Fredric Rolla.
