The Stanford Presbyterian Church was founded in 1788 on this site on the Old Wilderness Trail. The land was given by Mary Briggs, sister of Gen. Benjamin Logan. In 1797, David Rice, regarded as the father of Presbyterianism in Kentucky, preached here. In 1838, the church moved to its present site on land given by Logan, one of its founders. The original log church is now part of this library building.
