Bear Mountain is a prominent 6,415-foot peak in far northern California’s Siskiyou Mountains, within the broader Klamath Mountains region. Its summit is in Siskiyou County, and the mountain also reaches into Del Norte County, whose highest point lies just west of the summit at about 6,404 feet. The peak stands in the Siskiyou Wilderness along the boundary between the Six Rivers and Klamath national forests. Among its notable features is Devils Punchbowl, a north-side cirque containing a tarn. Its location relatively close to the Pacific Ocean brings especially heavy winter snowfall.
