Henry County lost twelve sons in the Vietnam War: Wayne Lawrence Adkins, Leon Ray Brooks, Nathaniel Kelley, Edward Lamar Moore, Jr., Wayne Joseph Stokes, William M. Walker, Charles Robert Bogart, Joe Thomas Conkle, Eddie Claude Kimble, Thomas Hall Morris, Ernest Lamar Wesley, and Johnny Calhoun. Their sacrifice is honored with the words, “He slept an iron sleep - slain fighting for his country.”
