Walter March Ellis, born August 24, 1859, in Nevinville, Iowa, was principal of Christian Endeavor Academy from 1902 to 1925. He graduated from Tabor College with a B.A. in 1882 and from Yale Divinity School with a B.D. in 1887, where he was commencement speaker. Ordained in the Congregational Church at Howard, South Dakota, in 1884, he served as pastor there until 1885, then at Maryville, North Dakota, from 1887 to 1889, and in Wisconsin at Tomahawk from 1889 to 1892, Elroy from 1892 to 1901, Endeavor from 1901 to 1909, 1920 to 1921, and 1925 to 1927, Moundville from 1925 to 1927, and Ashland from 1927 to 1929. He was editor of Church Life of Wisconsin from 1901 to 1903, instructor at Northland Academy from 1927 to 1929, and author of Values in 1938. He was remembered for his kind, patient, sympathetic understanding, his great unselfishness, and his devout Christian life, and was regarded as a lasting source of sincere Christian influence by those who knew and loved him. He died November 10, 1945, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
