Perry Thomas, second son of James Thomas Sr., was born May 25, 1797, in Bertie County, North Carolina, came to Kentucky in 1806, and married Elizabeth Bridges on March 16, 1821. He was a farmer, assessor, census taker, church clerk, a charter member of Linton Masonic Lodge, and the father of 14 children: Albert, Alpha Coleman, Allison W., William S., Rufus, Franklin, James, Perry Jr., Eliza Jane Futrell, Chilton A., Starkie D., Josephine, Etna Turner, and Winfield Scott. He died July 4, 1886, and was buried in the family cemetery 100 yards north.
