A 1947 16-foot Chris-Craft Special Runabout, known as Rocket, was powered by a 6-cylinder 93HP Chrysler Ace engine. Chris-Craft was founded by Christopher Columbus Smith and became famous for assembly line production of mahogany-hulled powerboats from the 1920's through the 1950's. In 1963, the company offered 159 different models and was the sales leader in many categories of small civilian powerboats. Walt's Dream was produced in the late 40's, when Chris-Craft built many utility boats of different sizes. Its hull was the smallest and fastest of this type, earning the nickname Rocket, and it was named in memory of one of the craftsmen's sons.
