The Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor unites people, places, and events across five Pennsylvania counties whose history was shaped by lumbering, mining, canals, railroads, and steel working. Its one hundred sixty-five-mile trail follows canal towpaths and former railroad beds between Wilkes-Barre in Luzerne County and Bristol in Bucks County, linking small canal towns, large industrial cities, the Delaware and Lehigh Rivers, museums, festivals, and outdoor recreation. Designated by the United States Congress, the D&L is a non-profit membership organization that works through federal, state, and local partnerships, along with residents and businesses, to protect the region’s nationally significant historic and natural resources while enriching its future.
