Kreidersville Covered Bridge, a wooden bridge over Hokendauqua Creek in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, was built in 1839 and is the county’s last surviving covered bridge. Constructed with Theodore Burr’s patented Burr truss, it represents a defining early American bridge design. Its survival resulted from local preservation efforts that began in 1959 after plans emerged to replace it with a concrete span, prompting one of Pennsylvania’s early organized covered-bridge campaigns. Supporters, including the Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Society of Pennsylvania and the Harmony Grange, helped save it. Northampton County took ownership in 1960, it was rededicated in 1961, and it joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
