Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park preserves the birthplace of Cordell Hull, born here in 1871 and later U.S. Secretary of State under President Franklin Roosevelt, with a central reconstructed log cabin and a museum displaying items tied to his life, including a replica of his 1945 Nobel Peace Prize. Tennessee acquired the cabin in 1953, and after periods of uneven management and repeated rebuilding, the site became a state park in 1997. The park also includes Bunkum Cave, where archaeological evidence points to Middle Woodland occupation, linking Hull’s birthplace to a much deeper regional history on Tennessee’s Highland Rim.
