Mount Baldy Ski Lifts is a Southern California ski resort on the slopes of Mount San Antonio in the San Gabriel Mountains, about 45 miles east-northeast of Los Angeles. Its lifts were installed in 1952 by Harwood Developments, and the resort operated as Mt Baldy Ski Lifts Inc. Managed by Herbert Leffler from 1953 to 1969, it was then sold to an investment group, ending its early locally managed era. Known for its vintage lift infrastructure, Baldy has long held a distinctive place in regional mountain recreation because of its setting on the area’s highest well-known front-range summit and its close connection to Los Angeles skiing.
