Cucamonga Wilderness is a federally designated protected area in the eastern San Gabriel Mountains of Southern California. Encompassing 12,781 acres within Angeles National Forest and San Bernardino National Forest, it is managed by the United States Forest Service. Its terrain rises from about 5,000 to 9,000 feet, creating a steep mountain landscape in a relatively compact space. The area is closely tied to prominent nearby high country, including Cucamonga Peak, Ontario Peak, and Telegraph Peak. Its importance lies in being preserved under the federal wilderness system, maintaining an undeveloped mountain setting and a sense of remoteness near Southern California’s urban edge.
