Presbyterians formed the first church in Greenwood on Dec. 31, 1825, and erected the first church building in Johnson County on or near this site in early 1826. The meeting house and surrounding cemetery occupied two acres of land donated by Garrett Brewer, a ruling elder, and the Rev. Isaac Reed, organizer of the church. The 20 x 16 ft. log cabin served as a church and a school until 1832, when a 50 x 40 ft. frame building replaced it. The Presbyterians moved into a new building at Main and Brewer Streets in 1853, and the remains of those buried in the cemetery were moved to the Greenwood Cemetery.
