Lake Wapello State Park in Davis County, west of Drakesville, is centered on the 289-acre natural Lake Wapello and organized around year-round outdoor recreation. Its facilities include a sandy swimming beach with a beachhouse dating to the 1930s, a boat ramp for boating and fishing, campgrounds, and 13 rental cabins. The park has 89 camping sites, 44 with electrical hookups for RVs, and several hiking trails, including a 6.6-mile loop around the lake. Winter use includes snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. From 1984 to 1995, Camp Wapello on the south side of the lake was also part of the park.
