Ventura Botanical Gardens is a 107-acre hillside garden behind Ventura City Hall in Ventura, California, overlooking downtown Ventura, the Channel Islands, and the Santa Monica Mountains. Reopened on November 3, 2018 after widespread Thomas Fire damage, it remains a restoration project and a long-term landscape vision planned for completion in the 2040s. Its roughly 100,000 plants are arranged to evoke natural plant communities from five climate zones, especially Chile, South Africa, California, and the Mediterranean basin, with an Australian garden planned. Major areas include the first Chilean garden, developed South African gardens, the Ramble of Southern California natives, and renewed Mediterranean olive groves.
