Peace Arch Park spans the Canada-United States border between Blaine, Washington, and Surrey, British Columbia, combining parks on both sides at a major crossing. Its centerpiece, the Peace Arch, was organized by Samuel Hill in 1914, built by international volunteers beginning in 1920, and dedicated in 1921 to honor the Treaty of Ghent and the Rush-Bagot agreement, symbols of peaceful relations and an unfortified border. The park developed in stages after the arch’s completion and later gained historic recognition in both countries. Long used for public gatherings, it remains a rare shared landscape where visitors can meet across the border within the park itself.
