Florence Peak is a 12,438-foot mountain on the Great Western Divide in California’s southern Sierra Nevada, about 6 miles southeast of Silver City and near Mineral King. Forming the southern boundary of Sequoia National Park, its summit is the meeting point of the Sequoia-Kings Canyon, John Krebs, and Golden Trout wilderness areas. It is also among the highest peaks south of Mount Whitney. The mountain’s slopes drain into several watersheds: Franklin Lakes and Franklin Creek to the Kaweah River on the north, the Kern River to the east, and Bullfrog Lakes and the Little Kern River to the southwest. Most of its precipitation falls as snow.
