Ottawa is the Lake Superior wreck of a tugboat off Red Cliff near the Apostle Islands in northern Wisconsin. Built in Chicago as Boscobel, it was then the city’s largest tug and remained the largest and most powerful tug on the Great Lakes until its loss in 1909. After years of log rafting on Lake Michigan, it was bought in 1901 by the Reid Wrecking Company of Sarnia, Ontario, and renamed. In November 1909, after helping free a storm-stranded steamboat near Outer Island, Ottawa caught fire that night, burned beyond saving, and sank. All aboard survived, and the cause was never determined.
