Mount Fray, also known as Catamount, is a 1,893-foot peak in the southern Taconic Mountains on the Massachusetts–New York border. Its open, scrub-oak summit and western view across the Hudson River Valley make it distinctive in a range otherwise characterized here by wooded slopes of northern hardwoods. The South Taconic Trail crosses the summit, placing the mountain on a prominent ridge walk in this part of the Taconics. Its land is split among Taconic State Park, the Catamount Ski Area, private property, and conservation easements. The mountain also marks a drainage divide, with waters flowing east toward the Housatonic and west toward the Hudson.
