Built in 1959 to store aircraft and ranch supplies, the hangar later served as a visitor center with exhibits and displays, where visitors could learn more about President Johnson and purchase tickets for a tour of the Texas White House. On December 29, 1963, President Johnson took Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara and others for a ride in a golf cart while Jack Valenti followed on foot.
