Wallace J. Thibodaux was born at Bayou Blue in Lafourche Parish on December 18, 1880, on the estate of his father, Henry J. Thibodaux. He inherited his father's estate, and his father was a descendant of Henry Schyler Thibodaux, the founder of the City of Thibodaux. He married Mathilde Bourgeois on June 28, 1904, and they had six daughters: Lillian, Hattie, Gladys, Pearl, Beulah, and Betty. He built the first one-room school on Bayou Blue and provided lodging for the teachers. In 1928, he was honored as the first Master Farmer of Louisiana. He served as Police Juror from 1920 to 1960 and was one of the founders of Francis T. Nichols State College. He was a loving inspiration to his family and the community.
