Crazy Peak is an 11,214-foot mountain in Montana and the highest summit in the isolated Crazy Mountains, rising dramatically above the Yellowstone River Valley and surrounding plains. More than 7,000 feet of relief and the state’s greatest topographic prominence make it one of Montana’s most visually commanding peaks. It is the highest mountain in Montana north of the Beartooth Mountains, and a small glacier on its northeast slope adds to its alpine character. As the central summit of the range, Crazy Peak is especially notable for how abruptly it towers over the country around it, though it lies on private land within Gallatin National Forest.
