Chief Little Crow was remembered as one who fought for the Indian's right to live in peace in this land. The red of the sunset upon these waters was said to remind people that all blood is red, even that of the red-skin who fought for possession of this stream, and the mist rising from the river was seen as the smoke of the pipe of peace between all peoples curling upward from the valley of the Crow.
