A grateful community dedicated this memorial to honor valiant men and women who gave themselves in service and sacrifice for God and Country. In memoriam are Roy H Sumpter and Richard P. Ludtke from World War I, and Donald V. Treat, Samuel C. Logue, Murrel F. Burnett, Richard Storts, Milton R Spoor, Benjamin F. Gahr, C. E. Fairweather, and Elbert Center from World War II. Its purpose is to honor all U. S. men and women who served in war and peace in defense of freedom, with sponsorship by the American Legion Post 759, VFW Post 4763, and the Village of Chatham, Illinois.
