Oak Ridge's oldest African-American congregation purchased this church site in 1889. The sanctuary served as a classroom for African American students until a schoolhouse was built next door around 1915. Indoor plumbing and a fellowship hall were added in the 1980s. The cemetery behind the church includes graves from the early 1900s.
