Short Mountain is a ridge in West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle that extends southwest to northeast through Hampshire and Hardy counties. Its highest point is Bald Knob near Arkansaw, West Virginia. The ridge’s current name grew from an earlier name, Short Arse Mountain. It is also linked with the nearby Short Mountain Wildlife Management Area, underscoring its role as a notable landscape feature in this part of the state.
