Charles E. Parker was the prime mover in the Kiwanis Club of Wausau’s acquisition of this land in 1920 and in its ultimate dedication to the enjoyment of all who love beauty. A principal founder and first president of the club, he was honored with friendship and respect for helping preserve these lovely acres as a place where people could find pleasure, peace, and kinship with nature.
