Grierson Spring is a historic spring in Texas between the Concho and Pecos Rivers. At the head of a watershed descending from the Llano Estacado, it held unusual importance in a dry region where water shaped movement and control. The spring took its name from Benjamin Grierson. In 1878, troops under his command helped build an outpost at the site and a road through it as part of a broader effort to control the local water supply and, by doing so, the surrounding region.
