Built of locally manufactured concrete blocks about 1920, this building began as Harry Hotel's blacksmith shop, where he shod horses and made decorative iron work, and his son Fred later continued in the business. In the 1940s Art Harlow bought it and converted it into Harlow-Beck Chevrolet, which operated here from 1946 to 1952 before moving to larger quarters at the north end of Central Avenue. Don Swisher then bought the building and rented it to the National Guard for use as an armory from 1952 to 1959. After the Guard moved to its own permanent armory, Swisher sold it to the Raymond Martin family, who remodeled it into Whitefish's first laundromat and later added dry cleaning. The laundromat continued after Bill and Peg Moir bought the building in 1976, and both the Martins and the Moirs lived in an apartment at the back during their years there. Chuck Bronson bought the building, still a laundromat, in 1987, a beauty shop later opened in the rear, and after extensive remodeling it reopened in 2003 as the Whitefish Liquor Store.
