A 1912 view of Saint John Street shows a trolley car traveling south. At the intersection of Union and Saint John Streets, a bypass on the trolley line allowed cars to travel in either direction. The church on the left was the First United Methodist Church, which stood there until it was destroyed by fire in 1980. The Schuylkill Haven Public Library was established in 1934 and opened at its fifth location in August 1964.
