Dofflemyer Point Light stands in Boston Harbor, Washington, at the northeastern entrance to Budd Inlet near Olympia, marking the eastern side of the approach and helping define the water route toward the state capital. A light was first established there in 1887 as a lens lantern on a twelve-foot stake. The present lighthouse, a 30-foot pyramidal concrete tower designed by Rufus Kindle, replaced the original in 1934. It became one of Washington’s earliest automated lighthouses after photoelectric cells were added in the 1960s, with full automation and a radio beacon installed in 1987. It is listed on state and national historic registers.
