The 20th Corps units present at the Battle of Averasboro on March 14-16, 1865, included the 1st Division's 1st Brigade and 2nd Brigade, with the 5th Connecticut, 46th Pennsylvania, 2nd Massachusetts, 13th New Jersey, 123rd New York, 141st New York, 107th New York, 150th New York, and 3rd Wisconsin; the 3rd Brigade with the 82nd Illinois, 101st Illinois, 61st Ohio, 82nd Ohio, 143rd New York, and 31st Wisconsin; the 3rd Division's 1st Brigade and 2nd Brigade, with the 70th Indiana, 102nd Illinois, 33rd Indiana, 85th Indiana, 105th Illinois, 129th Illinois, 19th Michigan, 22nd Wisconsin, and 79th Ohio; the 3rd Brigade with the 20th Connecticut, 33rd Massachusetts, 136th New York, 26th Wisconsin, 55th Ohio, and 73rd Ohio; and artillery from the 1st New York Light, Batteries I and M, 1st Ohio Light, Battery C, and Pennsylvania Independent Battery E Light Artillery. These Union soldiers fought and died there during the battle.
