Lake Louisa State Park preserves 4,372 acres of central Florida landscape south of Clermont, where lakes, creeks, and woodlands meet the edge of the Green Swamp. Centered on Lake Louisa and several neighboring lakes, it includes Big Creek and Little Creek, with Lake Louisa feeding the Palatlakaha River, one of the headwaters of the Ocklawaha River, making the park important to the region’s watershed. Purchased by the state in 1973 and opened in 1977, it protects bald cypress, live oak, and saw palmetto habitats while providing year-round opportunities for swimming, hiking, horseback riding, camping, fishing, canoeing, and other outdoor recreation.
