Silver Creek Hot Spring
Nature
Silver Creek Hot Spring, a geothermal mineral spring in Valley County, Idaho, lies about 23 miles north of Crouch and feeds Silver Creek on its way to the Middle Fork Payette River. Local Indigenous peoples used the site before settlement. Its later history reflects mining, recreation, logging, and conservation: M.F. Eby recorded a mining claim there in the 1890s, development began in 1917, and the property later passed through the Heller family before becoming the Silver Creek Plunge resort under Mert Lyons and Floyd Suttle in the 1950s. The spring emerges at 102°F with a flow of about 540 gallons per minute, and a 2005 oil spill there was later cleaned up.
