Miami Beach Botanical Garden is a 2.6-acre public green space in Miami Beach founded in 1962 on land shaped by the city’s earlier agricultural and resort history. Near Collins Canal, which John S. Collins dug in the early 1900s to move produce from local groves, the site had also been part of a golf course during Carl Fisher’s development era. After long decline worsened by Hurricane Andrew in 1992, local residents and the city began its revival in 1996, followed by a major 2011 renovation by Raymond Jungles. Today it features native and ornamental subtropical plantings, water features, educational gardens, and community cultural uses.
