The Jack and Laura Dangermond Preserve is a twenty-four-thousand-acre nature reserve on the Gaviota Coast of southwestern Santa Barbara County, California, with eight miles of coastline around Point Conception. Managed by The Nature Conservancy and established in 2017 through a one-hundred-sixty-five-million-dollar gift from Jack and Laura Dangermond, it protects an unusually rich transition zone where major land and marine biomes meet and northern and southern California wildlife overlaps. The preserve serves as both important coastal habitat and a broader ecological crossroads. It also supports active stewardship and restoration, including prescribed fire training in 2022 and black abalone recovery work along its protected shore in 2023.
