The Primitive Baptist Church of Tioga was organized in 1884 in Lone Star and moved to Tioga in 1893. The present church was built in 1948. T. N. Cutler was the first pastor. Sam Rayburn, Speaker of the U. S. House of Representatives, was baptized here in 1956 by H. G. Ball, Elder. Ball conducted Rayburn's funeral in Bonham in 1961. Four presidents attended.
