In 2001, Nescopeck Township acquired the Motor Vu Drive-In Theater, renovated it, and opened Lenape Park in 2003. Luzerne County designated a new maintenance garage at this site, and in 2006 township officials spent many evenings planning the park. Committee members included Dick and Mary Bogart, Bob and Nancy, and Sean and Kathy Green. With help from the Central Susquehanna Community Foundation, including Berwick Health and Wellness, the township completed a trail, then finished building a pavilion and planting in the summer. In the fall of 2008, the park was officially dedicated, with government officials attending and Little Wolfe, a Lenape Indian, speaking about Lenape history and performing. Later, support from the Susquehanna Community Foundation, Cornerstone Bible Church, county workers Ernie and Jeff, park volunteers, and local businesses helped complete playground equipment. The park relies on grants and donations for maintenance, and plans called for an all-purpose area to be added before the end of 2009.
