Maine's Korean War memorial honors those who gave their lives fighting for freedom, including Medal of Honor recipients Cpl Clair Goodblood of the Army, Cpl David B Champagne of the U.S. Marine Corps, Sgt George D Libby of the Army, and Maj Charles J Loring Jr of the U.S. Air Force, and is dedicated to all those who served during the Korean War. It also preserves Thomas Lynn's poem "Old Comrades," in which a Korean War veteran walks among fallen comrades on a bloody hill, calls their names into a deathly still silence, remembers where they fell among the rocks and trees, and sees rows of crosses where old comrades used to be.
