The Sampson Naval Training Station at Sampson, New York, on Route 96A operated from 1942 to 1946, where men and women served during those years. An anchor recovered from the depths of Seneca Lake on 8-18-87 by the Seneca County Sheriff's Department Scuba Team was dedicated on the 10th day of September 1988 by the Waterloo VFW Post #6433 in honor of those who served there.
