Manufactured about 1930 by Star Drilling Machine Company of Akron, Ohio, this spudder was used in the Breckenridge, Texas, area by Guy Ewing. It had double walking beams, and heavy springs helped jerk the drilling tools upward after each down-stroke and sped drilling. Its maximum depth was 5,000 feet, and it weighed 22,000 pounds.
