Robert Cathcart, a Revolutionary War soldier, was buried in this cemetery and died after 31 March 1834 at age 86. Also buried here were James Cathcart, who died in April 1839, and Prenina Leonard Cathcart, who lived from 1791 to 1877. Many others were buried here as well, including James Nicholson, who lived from 5/11/1768 to 11/7/1835; his wife, Elizabeth Jane Thompson, who lived from 1/26/1777 to 8/26/1850; their daughter Sarah Jane; and Elizabeth Basset Nicholson, wife of George, who lived from 10/16/1810 to 2/16/1838. James Nicholson came with three brothers from north Ireland, and two of them lost their lives in the early part of the War of 1776. He settled in Virginia, then joined Daniel Boone in his trips to Kentucky, where he married Boone's first cousin, Elizabeth Jane Thompson, then went to Logan County, Ohio, and came here in 1828 as the first white settler in the township.
